Understand This.

If you must understand one thing in life, understand that life is a series of choices. You can choose to be happy or sad. You can choose to move somewhere or to stay where you are. You can choose if you want to put up with things or choose to let them go. It all starts with a choice..and from there? Well the opportunities are absolutely endless.

Girl, This Will Change Your Life.

Recently a friend of mine showed me a list of things that make life a lot easier on a girl and also make you a happier person in general. I knew at that moment that I wanted to take things that I've seen make me a happier person and make them into a list as well. Ladies, if you have any others make sure and let me know! No matter how big or small, doing these 35 will make you a better and happier person in general. Ready? Let's do this.

1. Learn to be more confident.
2. Know that it's just a bad day, not a bad life.
3. Don't chase boys.
4. Cut out sugar in your life.
5. Drink more tea.
6. Stressed? Take a long bath.
7. Also listen to calming music (I enjoy jazz music, like Frank Sinatra for example.)
8. Exercise more often.
9. Go outside once and a while.
10. Know that mistakes are simply chances to learn something.
11. Make a list of the priorities in your life.
12. Eat a healthier diet.
13. Make more time for sleep.
14. Yoga.
15. Go to concerts more often.
16. Spend more money on fewer quality items than many cheap items.
17. Wash your face in the morning and at night (Leaving your makeup on at night is so bad for you!)
18. Drink lots and lots of water.
19. If you can, travel to places you've never been to.
20. Remember that your body needs love too, treat it with respect.
21. Find your signature scent and splurge on a perfume.
22. Read more books. (I honestly don't think the people of my generation do this enough. It allows creativity and learning and is so important!)
23. Smile, it looks good on you.
24. Try something different and unique with your hair.
25. Learn to love who you are. (Again confidence is key)
26. Take lots of pictures.
27. Find inspiration in the little things.
28. Take a deep breathe. Everything is going to be okay.
29. Laugh more often.
30. Spend more time with your friends and family.
31. Be honest and open.
32. Dare to be bold and rock that red lipstick.
33. Do something simply crazy out of your comfort zone.
34. Take time to get ready in the morning.
35. Fall in love.

Where's the love?

Working in the industry that I do I've realized how many women need to uplift each other more. It's crazy to me the amount of ladies I know who try so very hard to bring each other down {whether they realize it or not}, and even crazier how much they enjoy it and literally crave it. Whether that be trying to look better than each other, be more successful than each other, etc, I've come to the conclusion that these women who are often seen acting this way are this way for one reason and one reason only..

They are trying to fill their lack of confidence and security in themselves.

I know a lot of girls who are pretty insecure, and every single one of them are the same way. They love to look better, be better, and put other women down. It's quite sad, really. I guess what I'm saying is that we can all work on things in our lives. And if you find yourself being jealous, putting others down, and wanting to look better than others in general, maybe it's time to take a step back and make a change. Women should always empower and uplift each other, end of story.

You know those moments in life where you have the opportunity to say or do something extraordinary? But you don't do it or don't say what you wanted to simply because of fear? Then like a flash of lightening that moment and opportunity passes you by as you sit there pondering in pure regret. That's me. I don't know why, but it's always been this way. Whether it be silly things or important things, I always wonder for years after what it would have been like if I had said or done that thing. I go through this process constantly, replaying a scenario in my mind until I try to forget about it. But I never forget about it forever. Eventually it creeps back in the back of my thoughts and it takes all I have to try and forget about it once more. Regret man, it eats me alive.

I guess my question here truly is...Why not? Why not take a chance? You only live once. And yeah, although that phrase is said a lot in our culture today, have you ever really sat down and thought about it? These are years you will NEVER get back. Your life is so short, and although you may not realize this right now, the clock keeps ticking, days pass, and years pass faster than we could ever imagine.

So as I sit here writing this I realize that asking myself "why not" rather than focusing on my fear of the unknown is so insanely important and something I definitely need to work on. Hopefully this post helps and inspires some of you lovelies out there to go for what you want and never regret taking a chance in life. You got this.

I know, I know, I talk about suicide a lot. Why? Honestly I don't know really....Maybe it's the fact that some of my closest friends have died this way. I know for a fact that the thought of killing myself has never crossed my mind nor will it ever do so. Yeah..You could say I'm pretty passionate about talking about this topic. Especially this week.

This week I lost another dear family friend to suicide. No one saw it coming because unlike most suicides, this man was never so depressed that he thought he must end his life. No, that wasn't it at all. Unfortunately he never talked to anyone about killing himself...it just kind of happened. One day here, the next day gone. As I sit here in tears writing this, I'm still shocked. It happened a few days ago, the funeral has already happened, and I'm still completely shocked. I've grown up with this guy and he was such an inspirational person. And now as sudden as a flash of lightening, his family and friends mourn his death. What else can I say? It's been a tough week.
