I Want Change.

You know something that's been on my mind day and night for a while now? Change. Even the word brings shivers up my spine. We're all the same, aren't we. We get caught up in the same old routine of things and never think to change it up. Never think that something drastic might just make us better people. Might just improve us somehow. But I truly think that going on new adventures and trying new things can not only make us better, but it can introduce us to things we never thought we would live through or see. It makes us more confident. It makes us enjoy life to the fullest.

For the past 33 years, I have looked in the mirror every morning and asked myself: 'If today were the last day of my life, would I want to do what I am about to do today?' And whenever the answer has been 'No' for too many days in a row, I know I need to change something. -Steve Jobs

Guys, I don't know about you, but I don't want to sit here and live my life the way I don't want to. I want to explore the world. I want to go on crazy adventures that might scare me at first. Because although I can't even tell you how much I hate the word YOLO, in this case it has a truly amazing meaning. Life is short. Don't get bored with the same routine. Your time is ticking and it goes by so fast. (I know, I'm a debbie downer eh?) From the beautiful lyrics from Aerosmith:

"Time, don't let it slip away. Raise your drinking glass, here's to yesterday."

So my friends, this goes out to you. May you try new things. May you never get bored with the routines of life. I don't want it to seem like I am living my life perfectly. In fact, the reason I am writing this right now is because I am wanting so badly for something major to change in my world currently. Something. Anything. I'm getting tired of getting used to doing the same old things. I do love life, but I'm ready for a change friends.

Please tell me . . . Am I the only one?

-Mak

  1. My Dad works full time at the career he loves, he's 84, and he always says "life is too long not to do what you love."

This is the year I quit my job and follow my dreams. Keep chasing yours Mak.

  2. Yesterday I turned 70. Yeah, that's a few more years than most, but far less than others. As I read what you wrote it brings me to my youth and back again. I was never the one to wish or vote for change. It was there; I had WILLED it and knew it not in some cases.
In this case, you willed it so and now hang on. Change will come in every form; could be a in a catastrophe, a new love for someone of something, or a vision quest.
Be at peace with what comes.

  4. Be careful what you wish for, Mak. Having had a bad fall with a seizure and an injury that I've still to recover from four weeks on, my life has changed dramatically. I'd love to go back to my old routine! But you go for it, girl do something outrageous. Throw caution to the wind and remember to write about your new adventures :-)
