You Are Beautiful.

I guess I just wanted to touch on the topic of being unique today, since it's something I think a lot about. It all started in early Jr. High, when I was friends with a group of girls that constantly were putting me down and taking their drama filled lives out on me every single day. (Thankfully I've now learned what a true friend really is.) During that time, I felt that I needed to dress and talk a certain way to please them. I now look back on it and realize wow, how could I have been so stupid?

One of my favorite quotes by the amazing Kurt Cobain says it all. "I'd rather be hated for who I am, than loved for who I am not."

I'm always telling my beautiful freaks (From my fashion blog) to be who they are in their style. Your style should reflect that. You only live ONCE. So what's the point of being someone else and following trends your whole life? It's a hard journey to actually being yourself wholeheartedly, and you will get hated on by more people then you ever imagined, but for me, it's totally worth it. Sure, I deal with people who judge and criticize me all the time for what I wear, what I listen to, who I am. And sure, sometimes it stings a bit. But I don't want to look back on life and regret being someone I'm not. Even if it's the little things like my fashion or what like.

So to those who wonder why I have a love for weird & unique people like Johnny Depp, now you know. I love them because they are the brave souls of our world. They are the people who have taken a leap of faith, even if it might have been scary at first. They are the ones I look up to most of all.

So friends, what do you think? I would love to hear your opinions on this topic.

Stay Beautiful♥

  1. The Cobain quote resonates with me very deeply. As for being here only once, I can say that I know without a doubt we reincarnate time after time. That is the way Prime Creator designed things.
Deep is easy for me to align with. He's unique and irreverent; a total free-thinking being who has a good grip on the way he wants to live his life... or so it seems.
People hate me because I am willing to stand for the truth all the while they want to live in the lies they have invented.
That leap of faith could be referred to as our shadow side and the willingness, when we are ready to cross the raging river and visit with our issues... the ones we have every reason to fear... but not at all, for our shadow side is our pal although it scares us to meet US... we see it in the every day reflections that are there in front of us, available for inspection.

    1. Isn't that a lovely quote, Frank?

As I said before, I completely respect your opinions, even if their not my beliefs. I am so sorry that people hate you, I don't understand why, your such a sweet and caring person!

    1. Very very true! I think conforming is literally a part of some peoples way of thinking, we all really need to take a lesson in staying true to ourselves!

Thank you so much for reading friend.

  3. I'm glad that you found your way and discovered what true friends are. I'm also happy that you've realized how pointless it is to waste the one life we have on following petty trends and practices. Well-behaved people rarely make history. I prefer to be a bit different. After all, that's the very definition of unique. Very nice post, Mak.

    1. Indeed! It sure took me long enough. True friends are a rarity, I've found. But I'd rather have those then friends who will leave me and put me down. I've had enough of those. ;D

Always love hearing your feedback Peter, thanks so much.

  4. You are right, Mak. We can only ever be the person we are, no matter how hard others try to mould us to be the person they think we should be, no matter how hard we try to be the person they want us to be. Each one of us is a unique person. We were created that way, with a gene pool from two other unique people whose gene pool came from.....down a long line of unique people.
So now is the time to look at ourselves and decide how we want to live that unique life. Now is the time to work on the qualities we'd like to display: love, loyalty, kindness, patience, whatever qualities we value, whatever qualities we find beautiful. It comes from within. If we take the time to look within ourselves, we can find who we are, and, if we don't like what we see...now is the time to work on those qualities that we think are beautiful and express them in our own unique way.

  5. Mak, this is a great post. I feel the same way you do. Kurt Kobain's quote hit the nail on the head. As a quirky, and sometimes misunderstood person myself, I get this a lot. So proud of you for separating yourself from those "mean girls" who were not your friends anyway. You're a wonderful person as you are. Btw, Johnny Depp is one of my favorites too. ;D
